Naomi + Matt {e}shoot

The day we went to shoot Naomi and Matt's engagement photos ended up being very wet. So we headed into the museum and took advantage of some of the sets.

Naomi wanted to get some outdoor photos as well and frankly her clear dome umbrellas looked better than my standard black ones I keep in the trunk.

After we shot in the rain Matt says to me, "we brought bikes" "by all means, let's head to the car park and shoot". I had a great time guys, I'm looking forward to your wedding next year. Thanks for the fun!

And thank's for the Bubble Tea, it was great! Such a nice treat guys, I appreciated it.

Things got pretty rough when the bikes came out.

Thursday

Theresa + James

Theresa and James' wedding was more than a couple coming together, it was a family coming together for the first time. The decided to adopt two kids from the Ukraine, in fact Theresa only got home 6 days before their wedding, talk about pressure. Yet they took it all in stride and did a wonderful job.

I was so taken back when I walked into the door, it's uncanny how their adopted daughter looks like Theresa, beautiful hair and all!
8|8|8 is suppose to be a luck day - I wish all the blessings and best to you guys and your new found family. Thanks for letting me witness the love of this family.

Okay on to some photos, no shoe shots this time.

Family Photos

A lot of people just think we photograph weddings, we actually do family portraits, products and commercial as well.

This time we headed out to the fields and did Anti-portraits, just letting families have fun and documenting their relationships. I'm just going to post a few of my favorite of the kids.

Cute, cute
"Jeremy, what if I were to peek through the grass, would that be good?"

"Troy, that would be a wonderful idea"

Flying is always a good thing.

When things get pouty, "Is that the best you can do? Come on, give me more mean baby!"

If you're family is wanting Anti-portraits, just give me a ring.

Cheers,

Your anti-portrait photographer Jeremy

Thursday

Holga

As mentioned in the post below I had a number of negs scanned by Bay Photo. These were shot with my Holga instead of the Hasselblad. I suppose the lab didn't know that and tried to sharpen the softness away, a little too much unsharp mask.

The colors needed tweaking as well, but that would be do to shooting Agfa 200 trans film and cross processing it.

Cheers,

Film or Digital?

Well I'm not really going to get into that debate here, although I will say film can do things that digital still can't quite manage. However, about a month ago Bay Photo in California had a sale on for scans of carded negatives. So I rounded up a number of my favorites from past weddings and sent them off.

Here are the results, no color tweaking - I just added a level adjustment to bring the blacks down, that's it. When I first opened the files I was surprised at how sharp the film scans were - none of that "digital haze or softness". Nice. Grain? Yeah sure, but I think it adds to the charm.

Hmm, the post-production work flow would be so fast and easy. No color correcting. There is something to be said for film. It looks good right out of the camera, where digital files always need work.
That's the one thing I love about analog. Maybe we need to bring back film.

Enjoy the past:

All images were shot on my Hasselblad with either the 80mm 2.8 or the 180mm 4.

I really miss shooting a square image. More room for your subjects, you never have to flip the camera or flash (if you use one) and they just look so cool.

Wednesday

Carmen + Jason

Carmen and Jason had a great wedding, it was good to shoot some place totally different than the typical Winnipeg locations. They live out in Oak Bluff and the wedding was at Breezy Bend Golf Club.

Once again the reception was decorated so wonderful, I'll have to say it was up there as one of my favorite. Actually all the details of the day were fantastic! Her flowers were stunning and lasted incredibly well for such a hot day.

Carmen and Jason, it was a wonderful day and I love the photos we got. Thank you for letting me be a part of your day. It was a joy to meet you all. Special thanks to Sandy. Enjoy!

Thanks to Don McNeill for the light in this shot, great to work with you guys as always! (hook up with them for your wedding video - you'll love it!)

Sometimes you walk into a room and everything is just right... the light is happening and the mood is magic - these are happy times.

Carmen loves the outdoors and wanted her photos "any where it's green". Got to love the freedom in that! So we stopped at different locations along the road and shot.

Some railway track fun.... this time it's my light
