Katie + Kevin

I love this group, just love them!

Katie and Kevin have such a wonderful group of friends that were a part of their wedding and most of their lives - you could not help but want to be a part of them. It is a joy to photograph people that are so close and loving.

When I walked through the door and saw these girls enjoying being girls - I knew it would be great. Darling ladies and dashing men, talk about a wonderful, classy affair!

On to photos,

Yes I know it's out of focus, but there's something I like about it.

If you're going to wear a tux, this is the way to do it. Classic black with a black bow tie, you can't go wrong and it looks class.

Kevin really reminds me of Bond

Wall Street Shenanigans Part 2

Things are getting pretty ugly behind the scenes in the USA, and please understand it will affect us up here eventually.

The markets seem to be waiting for the details of that $700 billion handout, which I'm sure will pop the markets up for a while. But is it the solution or just a band aid?

Short-selling ban:

Understandably every company whose stock trades publicly would like to get themselves added to the SEC's list of stocks that cannot be sold short. The list, which began with 699 clearly financial stocks, has now grown to 950, with stocks like GE, GM and IBM now on the list.

The decision was made in a panic, apparently without much thought given to unintended consequences. The rules already had to be changed significantly. After midnight on Monday, the SEC reversed itself to say that market-makers can sell stocks short after all, in bona fide market-making and hedging activities, including in leveraged derivatives contracts. The SEC explained that such short-selling is "necessary to provide liquidity to markets." That's just what hedge funds and money- managers were trying to explain to them in their complaints within hours of the original rules being imposed.

But hedge funds are left with a major problem. Most hedge funds are long/short funds. They use algorithmic models to keep their portfolios market-neutral to offset random market swings. If they are skillful in their stock and sector picks they make money whether the market goes up or down. But if they can't put on the short positions they can't put on their long positions either. - Sy Harding

As soon as that ban is lifted all these companies that were artifically held up will likely take a hit and Wall Street insiders will pocket more coin.

Hang on for a wide ride.

Enough of this, next post it's back to photos.

Wall Street Shenanigans

What happened last week in the markets? I know this isn't photo related, but please bare with me, I just wanted to shed some light on the wild ride the stock markets went through last week. And if you're reading this from the USA - take note, it affects you folks most. (for now)

Wall Street is not on your side, never has been and never will be. They use us individual investors for their gain and pretend to throw scraps or bone once in a while to keep us happy. Last week many people in the Street made huge amounts of money (to the tune of 500 - 2000% in two days) - while most of us watched our savings gyrate like a gogo dancer.

If this banking industry melt down is new or foreign to you, or you don't understand what's been going on I beg you to read this article by Sy Harding. It will show you how much of an under dog the general public are. Really eye opening. You owe it to yourself to stay informed.

My wife mentioned last week, "why don't they just regulate it so this wouldn't happen?"

Why not indeed!

Film, Digital?

Came across this quote today, got to love it.

'Digital is like shaved legs on a man - very smooth and clean but there is something

acutely disconcerting about it.'

Thursday

Sara-Marie + Neal

Okay I'm a bit slow with this one but Sara-Marie and Neal's wedding was a great day! a very hot day - but great!

What happens at an Italian and Portuguese wedding? Food, lots and lots of amazing food! Thank you to both Mothers for their wonderful hospitality and great spread! (if every weekend was like that I'd be huge!) It was definitely a treat.

When I met Sara-Marie over a year ago I knew she would be a stunning bride, what I didn't know till the wedding is how amazing the wedding party would be. Thanks for all the fun guys and gals!

Of course you have to have the shoe shot!

Tuesday

Sights off Hwy 3

Coming home from Raelene and Shaun's wedding I had to shoot these scenes. I've passed them 2 or 3 times in the past - this time the light and clouds made it work.

Timing is everything. Enjoy

Raelene + Shaun

I've mentioned before I love small town weddings. It's great to shoot in new locations and get away from the city - opens up some exploring and creativity. So when Raelene and Shaun asked me to head to Elm Creek and Carmen for their wedding, I was only too happy to go. Yeah!

The heat was up near the 30's, but everyone in the wedding party were up for some good times, especially when the golf carts came out.

When I walked into the house and saw Raelene's dress and shoes, I knew we'd have a styling good time. Her dress and hair were right out Grace Ormonde Wedding Style (which is a great style to live up to). Definitely one of the best wedding dresses of the year. Kudos to all my girls this year - I can't remember a year where I've had so much wonderful variety.

Okay on to photo goodness!

Great shoes

Love, love, love this dress - fantastic!

My favorite dress photo of the year so far,

You can't get these kind of shots when the priest says we'll reenact it after - that just never works. Weddings are about emotions and feelings. Don't sell yourself short.

When you're hot, head to the nearest AC hotel and shoot "bed jumping" photos, right up there with cigar portraits.

I loved spending the day with you two, celebrating the start of your life together. Enjoy your Shangri-La.
